Recently a Special Report on Nitrogen and Food was published:  “Nitrogen on the Table”.  It addresses the effects of food choice on European nitrogen pollution, GHG emissions and land-use.  In essence, 50% reduction in meat and dairy consumption by Europeans would reduce pollution by 40%, while bringing us closer into line with dietary recommendations for healthy eating.
