He had been President of the Potash & Phosphate Institute (PPI), the predecessor to IPNI. A native of Alberta, Canada, Dr. Roberts grew up in a family-owned retail fertilizer business. He received a B.S.A. in Crop Science (1981) and a Ph.D. in Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition (1985) from the University of Saskatchewan.

Terry worked as a contract scientist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada prior to joining PPI in 1989 as their Western Canada Director.

He moved to PPI’s headquarters in Norcross, Georgia in 1999 to head up their communications group and oversee the Institute’s international programs.

Dr. Roberts was named a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy in 2001.
